Police seek assistance identifying suspect in grocery store theft

The Barrie Police Service is appealing to the public for assistance after a theft was reported in the City of Barrie.

On Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2019 at 7:24 p.m., police responded to a grocery store located on Yonge Street after a male selected some meat and beer and then attempted to leave without paying for the items. When approached by loss prevention officers outside the store and placed under arrest, the male surrendered the cart containing the stolen items and ran across the parking lot.

The suspect is described as male white, approximately 40 years of age and was wearing a black toque, black jacket, black pants and a red sweater underneath the jacket.
