Police seize 'large quantity of drugs' in pharmacy robbery investigation

BRADFORD - Since October, there have been six armed robberies of drug stores in the Bradford and York Region area. A joint effort between South Simcoe Police Criminal Investigation Unit and York Regional Police Hold Up Unit was commenced.

As a result of the three-month investigation, two suspects were identified and arrested on Thursday, Jan. 26, 2017. Search warrants were executed at two Bradford homes, resulting in the seizure of weapons, cash and a large quantity of drugs, including Fentanyl patches.

"These arrests and the seizure of these drugs will make an impact on the local drug scene," said Detective Sergeant Brad Reynolds. "We appreciate the assistance of our partners at York and the O.P.P Investigation & Support Bureau."

26-year-old Bradford man has been charged with a total of 34 charges including 6 counts of robbery, 3 counts of armed robbery, 6 counts of disguise with intent, 6 counts of possession of narcotices, 6 counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking, 6 counts of trafficking and one count of flight from police.

A 21-year-old Bradford man has been charged with robbery, armed robbery, disguise with intent, possession of narcotics, possession for the purpose of trafficking and trafficking.

Both men have been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

The investigation is ongoing. A value of the narcotics has not yet been determined.
