Porch thief gets his parcel, but police think they've unpacked his identity

Barrie police remind residents to arrange for someone to pick up their parcel if they are expecting a delivery

A porch pirate struck an east-end Barrie home in broad daylight, but police think they know who they’re looking for.

Around noon on Tuesday, a home security camera caught a man walking onto a Napier Street porch and taking a box that had been left by mail for the residence.

The man then gets into a black pickup truck and heads east toward Cook Street.

Barrie police co-ordinator Peter Leon said police “know who the individual is” as the investigation continues.

“Just a reminder to folks that if you’re expecting a parcel, to arrange with a friend to retrieve it if you are not going to be home,” Leon told BarrieToday. “There are those out there taking advantage of mail deliveries and as always, better to be safe than sorry.”
