A contractor working on a property in Tiny Township made an unsettling discovery earlier this week that led to a call to police.

Southern Georgian Bay OPP officers arrived at the Tiny Beaches Road South address shortly after 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 27 after receiving a report of "possible human remains."

After a preliminary examination, members of the detachment’s crime unit started an investigation along with the force’s forensic identification unit.

Further investigation has now been conducted at the scene by a forensic anthropologist from the chief coroner’s office, as well as personnel from the province’s forensic pathology service.

“Initial investigation has yielded information that would suggest that this discovery may be historical in nature and the investigation is ongoing,” police stated in a release, adding there is no threat to public safety.
