Racing charges stem from afternoon traffic stop

TINY TOWNSHIP - On Sept. 5, 2017 at approximately 3:16 p.m. an officer from the Southern Georgian Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) stopped a motor vehicle that he observed driving aggressively and travelling at a high rate of speed on Golf Link Road in Tiny Township, Ontario.

As a result of the traffic stop, the male driver Michael Scott (age 37) of Tay Township has been charged with:

  • Adult Dangerous Operation of Motor Vehicle contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Adult Race a Motor Vehicle - Excessive Speed contrary to the Highway Traffic Act
  • Drive Motor Vehicle - No Validation on Plate contrary to the Highway Traffic Act

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice on Oct. 5, 2017 in Midland, Ontario.

In addition, his vehicle was impounded for seven days and his licence was suspended for 7 days as a result of the infractions.
