R.I.D.E program leads to drug charges for Barrie man

ARMOUR TWP, ON – On Saturday August 20, 2016 at approximately 6:45 p.m the Almaguin Highlands Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a R.I.D.E. program (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) at Pickeral and Jack Lake Road and Berriedale Road.  

A westbound vehicle approached the officer and following a police investigation the passenger, Gordon McCarty, 28, of Barrie Ontario was arrested for possession of marijuana.

Police charged and released the accused with Possession of a Schedule II Substance – Cannabis Marijuana, contrary to section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act. 

The accused was released from police custody and is to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on Thursday October 13, 2016 in Sundridge, Ontario.
