Robbery investigation update and calls for service

INNISFIL - Over the last two weeks, members of the Community Mobilization and Engagement Unit (CMEU) have been conducting an investigation into unreported street robberies in the Alcona area.

A group of adults and teens have been identified as the suspects. In some cases, victims were lured to wooded areas for drug transactions when they were robbed or assaulted.

The Street Crime Unit and the Criminal Investigation Bureau have assisted with the investigation.

To date, two adults and three young offenders have been arrested and charged with multiple counts of robbery, conspiracy to commit an indictable offence, assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon and fail to comply.

Arrest warrants are being sought for another adult and a young offender. 39 charges have been laid to date; more charges are possible.

A precise accounting of the ages of the accused persons and their charges will be provided to the media at the conclusion of the investigation.

Investigators are still seeking other victims. Anyone who has been a victim of this group is urged to come forward.
