South Simcoe police have charged a school-bus driver with careless driving following a two-vehicle crash this morning in Innisfil.

At around 8 a.m. on Thursday, June 13, police say officers were called to the intersection of Yonge Street and the 6th Line for a collision involving a school bus and a white Nissan.

Officers arrived on scene and found the collision occurred in the middle of the intersection, with debris scattered on the roadway.

The bus was travelling eastbound on the 6th Line to cross Yonge Street, according to police.

Police say a witness on scene provided dash-cam footage of the collision, which indicated " he school bus entered the intersection when it was not safe to do so, causing the white Nissan to collide with the rear of the bus," stated a news release.

Police confirmed 22 children were on the bus at the time of the collision. Two students sustained minor injuries and were assessed by paramedics and cleared on scene.

The driver of the Nissan had minor injuries and was taken to hospital as a precaution.

A 67-year-old Innisfil man has been charged with careless driving.

None of the allegations have been tested in court.
