Single motor vehicle collision leads to numerous charges

TAY TOWNSHIP - On Sunday, June 25, 2017 at approximately 7:30 p.m., members of the Southern Georgian Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a single motor vehicle collision. A motorcycle lost control at the intersection of Vasey Road and Old Fort Road in Tay Township, Ont.

Officers at the scene determined that the male driver had been consuming alcohol. As a result of their investigation, police arrested and charged the 40-year-old male driver, Trevor Douglas Chambers of Midland, Ont., with:
    •    Adult driving while ability impaired - motor vehicle (alcohol) contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
    •    Adult drive with more than 80 mgs of alcohol in 100 ml of blood contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
    •    Drive while under suspension contrary to the Highway Traffic Act
    •    Failure to have insurance contrary to the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act
    •    Drive motor vehicle with no plates contrary to the Highway Traffic Act

The male was issued an automatic 90 day drivers licence suspension and his vehicle was towed.

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Midland, Ontario at a later date.
