ESSA TWP. — A Vaughan man has been charged following a single-vehicle crash between Cookstown and Alliston late Friday night.
Shortly before 11:30 p.m. on Jan. 10, Nottawasaga OPP received a call from another driver about a collision at the intersection of Highway 89 and County Road 56, in Essa Township.
"The officer arrived on scene shortly after, locating a grey four-door passenger vehicle on the northbound side of County Road 56, near the east-side ditch," OPP stated in a news release. "Two occupants were in the vehicle at the time and were able to exit with no injuries."
Marco Cosentino, 29, of Vaughan, has been charged with operation of a motor vehicle while impaired (alcohol and drugs), operation of a motor vehicle while impaired (blood-alcohol concentration 80 plus), failure to surrender a driver's licence and driving a motor vehicle with liquor readily available.
None of the allegations have been tested in court.
In addition to the charges, a 90-day licence suspension was also issued and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice located in Bradford on Feb. 27 to answer to the charges.
