On Wednesday, Aug. 30, 2017 shortly after noon, police were called to the Barrie Motel, located at 120 Donald St. in the City of Barrie, after the employee located a male sleeping in room 14 who had (allegedly) not rented it.

Upon police arrival, the male was located sleeping in the bed and refused to rise, demanding police leave him to sleep. It was believed the male forced entry to the room and when confronted by the employee, refused to pay the fee to continue to stay.

The male was arrested for break and enter as well as accommodation fraud, and transported to the Barrie Police Service. Once identified, it was learned the 52-year-old Barrie man was also bound by a probation order he was breaching and the charge of breach probation was added.

The accused was held overnight for a bail hearing on Thursday morning, allowing him the opportunity to get some sleep.
