On Aug. 30, 2017, South Simcoe Police Service officers arrested two men and charged them with manslaughter in connection with the death of Shawn Kelly.
A statement from the family of Shawn Kelly Jr.:
We are extremely grateful to the South Simcoe Police for the investigation into our son’s death. The recent developments give us hope that Shawn did not die in vain.
Shawn was an amazing son, brother, father, and friend. He would have celebrated his 24th birthday on Sept. 8.
We hope and pray that society can take a lesson from our tragic loss and put an end to the opioid crisis.
We would appreciate it if others would continue to respect our privacy at this time.
