Traffic stop leads to charges

MIDLAND – On December 28, 2016 at approximately 10:34 p.m. a member of the Southern Georgian Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop on Highway 12 in the Town of Midland, ON.

As a result of further investigation, the female driver Lindsay May Rutherford (age 27) of Barrie, ON has been charged with several traffic offences.

  1. Adult operate motor vehicle without insurance contrary to the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act

  2. Adult use plate not authorized for vehicle contrary to the Highway Traffic Act

  3. Adult drive motor vehicle no currently validated permit contrary to the Highway Traffic Act

  4. Adult fail to surrender permit for motor vehicle contrary to the Highway Traffic Act

  5. Adult fail to apply for permit on becoming owner contrary to the Highway Traffic Act

  6. Adult fail to notify change of address contrary to the Highway Traffic Act

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice on January 19, 2017 in Penetanguishene, ON.
