Barrie police look over a damaged vehicle after a suspect was arrested in a hit-and-run investigation Friday afternoon at a Mapleview Drive West plaza.

A suspect was apprehended Friday afternoon by Barrie police after hit-and-run crashes occurred in the city's south end.

At 12:55 p.m. on Nov. 15, police took a female suspect into custody at a Mapleview Drive West shopping plaza.

The woman was transported to a local hospital where the investigation continued, Barrie police communications co-ordinator Peter Leon told BarieToday.

“With the fail-to-remains, there is an ongoing investigation. It’s part and parcel of the investigation,” he said.

Police would not say at this point if the crashes were local to Barrie, or if surrounding areas were also involved.

BarrieToday will have more information as details become available.
