Barrie police are searching for three teenagers allegedly responsible for damage to a Bayfield Street store Wednesday evening after they were locked out by an employee.
On Nov. 6, at 7:46 p.m., city police say officers received a call about three disorderly youths at the Shell gas station on Bayfield Street.
From the investigation that followed, police said they learned the group of youths had attended the store in the past and allegedly stolen a number of items.
Police said the clerk recognized the trio as they walked toward the store and they locked the door preventing their entry.
Frustrated by this preventative action, one of the youths picked up a rock and threw it at a window, causing a glass window to crack, police say.
Police said they were able to use surveillance video from a nearby fast-food restaurant and obtained “very clear” photographs.
“Regrettably, due to provisions contained within the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA), the pictures cannot be shared publicly,” police said in a release.
From the photographs, police said they believe the youths are all between the ages of 14 to 16 years of age.
The following descriptions were provided:
- Suspect one was wearing a matching grey hoodie pulled up over the head, and a grey sweat pant outfit with a large tree pictured on the left side of the hoodie and on the upper right thigh of the sweat pant. They were carrying a black satchel over the left shoulder, and wearing black running shoes with a white mid-sole.
- Suspect two was wearing a black or navy-blue hoodie, black athletic pants with a cuffed bottom, white socks and black running shoes. They had a medical mask under the chin and attached to both ears, and had “very dark, thick and wavy black hair,” which appeared to be parted on the left side.
- Suspect three was wearing a black hoodie with the hood up, black Adidas-style athletic pants with a cuffed bottom, white low-cut Nike running shoes with a black “swoosh.”
Police are asking anyone who recognizes the description of these youths, or knows who they are, to contact the investigating officer by email at [email protected].
