A 19-year-old Tiny Township man has been charged with failing to share the roadway after a crash on County Road 27 in Springwater Township Saturday.

The two-vehicle collision took place between Horseshoe Valley Road and Flos Road 3 — approximately 20 minutes northwest of Barrie — shortly before 5:30 p.m., noted Huronia West Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Const. Mike Osborne.

“It involved a female in one vehicle and a male in another and they were transported to Royal Victoria (Regional Health Centre) with non-life threatening injuries,” he told BarrieToday Sunday morning.

“The vehicle driving northbound on County Road 27 (and) then came to a sudden stop, swerved into the southbound lane and struck (the second vehicle) that was travelling southbound,” said Osborne. ‘The second vehicle then rolled and landed on its side in the westbound ditch.”

Crews from Springwater Fire were also on the scene to help the female out of her vehicle, he added, noting according to the report, the female was “alert and conscious and extricated from the vehicle”.

Officers on the scene administered a road-side screening for alcohol, but none was detected, he noted.

The male driver was officially charged under the Highway Traffic Act with “failing to share half roadway”.
