On June 2, 2017 at approximately 9:28 a.m., Midland Police conducted a traffic stop on the east side of Midland.

The investigation revealed the male driver was a suspended driver. Further investigation revealed, the suspect was currently bound by an undertaking with the condition not to be in the driver s seat of a motor vehicle.

Subsequently, he was arrested and transported to the police station. While at the station the suspect threatened to kill the arresting officer and damaged one of the holding cells.

Charged is Troy Mathers, 38 years old of Midland, ON, with:

  • Fail to Comply with OIC Undertaking section 145(5.1) Criminal Code
  • Mischief Under $5,000 section 430(1)(C) Criminal Code
  • Utter Death Threats section 264.1(1)(A) Criminal Code
  • Drive while under suspension section 53(1) H.T.A.

He is being held pending a Bail Hearing in the Barrie Court of Justice.
