According to witnesses at the scene, a truck stopped at the northbound ONroute in Barrie at approximately 7 p.m., tonight.
Shortly after the driver exited the vehicle to head inside, witnesses said sparks could be seen coming from the cab of the truck.
By the time the driver returned to the truck, the cab was engulfed in flames as well as the front part of the trailer.
No one was inside the truck at the time of the fire and no injuries were reported.
Police and firefighters have left the scene while heavy tow and environmental cleanup crews work to reopen the truck parking area.
