Barrie Police Street Crime Unit began a preliminary investigation after receiving information into persons involved in suspected drug trafficking within the City of Barrie.
On Friday, June 9, 2017 at 1:15 p.m. the investigation led the Street Crime Unit to conduct a vehicle stop in a business parking lot at 409 Yonge Street, in the City of Barrie. The two males that were inside the vehicle were arrested and the following items were located and seized:
- 5.5 ounces of Cocaine
- 1.05 grams of Heroin
- 18 grams of Cannabis Marijuana
- Multiple cellular phones
- A quantity of cash
A 19-year old Barrie male was charged with:
- Possession of a Controlled Substance- Cocaine
- Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking- Cocaine
- Possession of a Controlled Substance- Heroin
- Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking- Heroin
- Possession of a Controlled Substance- Marijuana
- Fail to Comply with Probation
- Fail to Comply with Probation
A 19-year-old Toronto male was charged with:
- Possession of a Controlled Substance- Cocaine
- Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking- Cocaine
- Possession of a Controlled Substance- Heroin
- Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking- Heroin
- Possession of a Controlled Substance- Marijuana
Both males were held at the Barrie Police Service for bail court. It is believed the street value of the drugs seized in relation to this investigation exceeds $13,700. Investigators feel this seizure and the arrests of these individuals will further thwart trafficking of illicit drugs on the streets of Barrie.
