Orillia man faces speeding, stunt driving charges

ORILLIA, ON - On Friday July 7, 2017, at 10:25 p.m., an officer from the Ontario Provincial Police OPP Central Region Traffic Management Unit was conducting stationary traffic enforcement on Highway 11 at Coldwater Road in Orillia when they observed a motor vehicle which appeared to be travelling in excess of the posted 100km/h speed limit.

The motor vehicle was confirmed to be traveling at 84km/h over the posted speed limit and the officer conducted a traffic stop. A 33-year-old male from Orillia, Ontario has been charged with the following Highway Traffic Act offences:

  • Speeding - 184km/h in a posted 100km/h zone
  • Stunt driving.

The driver has also his motor vehicle impounded and his driver's licence suspended for a period of seven days.

The OPP wish to remind all motorists that their safety remains our priority and driving behaviour that involves excessive speed is something that has no place upon our roadways and highways.
