CLEARVIEW TWP. — A 62-year-old woman faces impaired driving charges after provincial police officers discovered a vehicle in a ditch on Mighton Court recently north of Stayner.
According to Huronia West OPP, officers found the car in the ditch on Jan. 9 around 11:30 p.m. At that time, the car was abandoned.
"Officers were able to contact the driver who advised that she had driven into the ditch earlier on in the day and was planning to retrieve it," stated a news release.
Later, police say officers found the woman attempting to remove the vehicle. Officers spoke with the woman, then conducted an impaired driving investigation.
The Clearview Township woman was charged with operation of a motor vehicle while impaired (alcohol and drugs) and operation while impaired (blood-alcohol concentration 80-plus).
The accused will face the charges in court later.
None of the allegations have been tested in court.
