Youth charged with impaired driving following collision

On Wednesday, Aug. 30, 2017, around 7:15 p.m., South Simcoe Police Service officers were called to the corner of Ewart Street and Killarney Beach Road in the village of Lefroy for a motor vehicle collision.

Responding officers found a car with severe damage and a broken utility pole. A young woman was identified as the driver, and she was taken to a local hospital in the care of Simcoe County paramedics.

An officer accompanied the youth to the hospital where she was arrested for impaired driving. After testing at the station, the 17-year-old Barrie girl was charged with impaired driving and drive over 80 mgs. Her licence was suspended for 90 days.

She received treatment for minor injuries. Her passenger was not injured.
