Congratulations to Mayor Brian Jackson for his years of service to the Town of Innisfil. It is wonderful that the Council of the Town of Innisfil is recognizing Brian Jackson for all his years of service. Bravo Zulu Brian

I expect through this period all HUDSON BAY Executive will still receive their regular salaries, while they send out layoff notices, and cut back on part time employees.

The announcement by the Liberal Candidate to provide a GO Train to Collingwood almost caused me to fall off my chair. Where is the train track for the GO train to operate ? The Liberals may as well have announced that they will build a TUNNEL to Collingwood. I am convinced I should start a course at Georgian College for those running for political office to first obtain a Certificate in Common Sense.

A very good point has been mentioned in this article, and it is never to late to correct the past. Hopefully the oversight of the Town of Barrie, may be corrected by the now City of Barrie Members of Council. A plaque, or sculpture of some form to recognize the contribution made to Barrie by the late Arch Thompson. I would think that there may be government grants available for such heritage projects.

I can't agree with Brady Bunch on all the points made.
There are problems in our society, always have been and always will be.
Many volunteer groups and community organizations try very hard to help and improve the lives of those less fortunate, or those that find themselves in difficult times. Those groups perform a great service in society.
Believe it or not, if there wasn't rules and checks, some people would form an organization only to turn it into a paid job, on the backs of the taxpayer, and those that make donations an only find out later that it is an organization not above board. There are two places in Barrie that I wonder what ever happened with the original concept, and was there any funds provided by any level of Government ?
And last, no matter what help or support is available, there are some people that don't want to be helped !

I know politics had become a blood sport, but I didn't think it had reached Oro-Medonte yet.

Appears everyone in Ontario has forgot that shortly after Crombie was elected Mayor of Mississauga, she resigned. Causing a vacancy on Council so she could apply for a higher paying position as an MPP. Politicans that are serving in one capacity should be prohibited from running for another office until there term is up, or have to pay the cost of a by-election. I don't and can't believe anything Crombie says or promises after letting the people of Mississauga down after voting her into the office of Mayor, just so she can look forward to an MPP's pension. She is lucky the other parties have not run commercials of her self serving position yet. Never trust someone who jumps ship so fast !

City of Barrie has made a substantial commitment of " taxpayers " dollars. While the Govt. of Canada has imposed a limit on out of Country student registration, Colleges are cutting back on courses and programs, laying off staff, and trying to find ways to cover the expected loss revenue as they find themselves millions of dollars short in their budgets. You have to ask yourself, Does this make any sense ?

Check history; Mulroney was accused of taking a bribe and he sued the Govt over the allegations as there was no prof, claiming his reputation was defamed etc. The Govt. settled with Mulroney ($$$$$). Then later he admitted he accepted a bribe (in an envelope at the airport) from a businessman, (the sum in the range of $300,000 comes to mind).
CANADA , There is no place like it !!
