They'll find positions where they contribute more to their country or retire and enjoy their severance and not burden the tax payer.

Ridiculous. When Taylor Swift, Hilary Clinton, Kamala Harris and Obama point their hands up like a Nazi salute.......
Protesting Tesla for what reason?
For Elon pointing out on government waste of tax dollars.
Elon Musk could be the reason the US doesn't forfeit on their debt. $35 Trillion Dollars.
Just imagine what it would do to Canada if the US forfeits on their debt.
A tariff would seem like a blessing.

And pay 65% on capital gains. There is no incentive to work hard and get ahead in Canada anymore. But there was a time.

There was time it didn't really matter who you voted for. Not today. I use to vote for the red party. Not after what I've seen happen in the past 9 years

Remember Collingwood before 1989. We had industry. Magna, Good year hose, Kaufman furniture, Dolls that manufactured seat belts, the ship yards. Collingwood was a manufacturing beehive. We use to have tariffs back then. Then Reagen and Mulroney brought free trade. Alot of plants closed and moved to the US and Mexico for cheaper operating costs when our dollar was low compared to the US like it is now. Does that not still apply now?

I do sympathize for those who are struggling to put food on their table. But we seem to be moving towards a socialistic system which is a bad sign. We need to address the root of the problem. Why are people having such a hard time today. I grew up in an immigrant family who came to this country with no money. There was never a time my parents were unable to feed me. They were able to make strides ahead and not depend on the system. It seems todays socio economic times are tougher with the cost of housing, food, and everything else. A lot of people are just keeping their head above water. We need to bring taxes down and bring down the cost of living, so people can get ahead again, not increase them. Just my point of view.

Let's go back to 1989. Pre 1989 US/Canada used tariffs on export. Every one cried about the free trade agreement implemented by conservative leaders Brian Mulroney and Ronald Reagan. We will lose our manufacturing jobs to lower US wages. Then NAFTA came in 1992. Add Mexico. How could Canada compete withe now Mexican and US wages. Again everyone cried. We did lose our manufacturing jobs to these countries unless our dollar remained weak. Were we wrong before about free trade and right now or wrong now and right before?

One more thing.
Our fuel costs are loaded with taxes (not carbon tax) to maintain and repair road highways. These taxes are not included in your charging bill? Not yet. But I'm sure in time the government will want to recoup this money and start charging you an EV tax for highways. If you think you may be driving and EV to save money, it may not be the case. Cheers.

Sorry to pop your bubble, but the elephant in the room is the replacement cost of your battery.
On the Ford Lightning Truck this cost is from $28,000 to $35,000. How many kilometers do you expect to get on your vehicle before you need a battery replacement. If your battery replacement is $20,000 on your vehicle and suppose you get 300,000km life on your battery you need to add $0.067 per km which puts you up to $.1497 per km. As you indicated, also factor in the extra cost of insurance. Why is insurance so high? Because of the replacement cost of batteries is so expensive. I have the same problem with my battery powered tools. The battery cost for replacement is almost the same as replacing the whole tool with a new battery. My 2014 F150 gas powered truck is still going strong at 460,000km on the original engine. I don't believe I would get this durability with a Ford Lightening truck. Best of luck with your EV.
