Get in the spirit of the holiday season with Bear Creek Secondary School’s Winter Market this weekend.
The Wrapped Up Winter Market will take place Saturday, Nov. 16 at the south-end Barrie high school, located at 100 Red Oak Dr.
With more than 55 vendors selling beauty products, crafts, candles, food and beverages, as well as performances from the school’s choir and drum line, organizers say Barrie residents won’t want to miss this festive event.
“This is our second year that we will be running the Winter Market,” says event organizer Laura Bruno. “Last year … we had just under 40 vendors participate and we had over 400 people come through the market.”
Bruno is a lover and teacher of the arts at Bear Creek. She organized the Winter Market as a way to fund the many art programs available at the school.
“I have organized all of the vendors and made sure they are all set and ready to go,” she says. “I’ve organized the silent auction, and there is a small group of volunteers that will be helping the day before and the morning of (the event).”
With even more vendors than the previous year, they say the public is guaranteed to find something for everyone with products ranging from freeze-dried candy, hot sauce, lip gloss and skin care.
Bruno is also joined by the teachers and students of the visual and musical arts to put on this afternoon of excitement.
“This is just a great day to support the arts,” Bruno says. “I feel the arts is a very important part of school and of life … It’s important people know that the arts is still alive.”
Come down to Bear Creek Secondary School this Saturday (Nov. 16) at 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to get a glimpse at what the businesses of Barrie have to offer at the Winter Market. The event is open to the public.
