He secured first place at the 2023 World’s Strongest Man competition in Myrtle Beach, S.C., where he also became the first Canadian to win the title of World’s Strongest Man. He is also the winner of both the 2023 and 2024 Arnold Strongman Classic events. In 2023, he became the fourth person to win both the World’s Strongest Man and Arnold Strongman Classic competitions in the same year.

“I’m happy to be part of a thriving sport community in Barrie and privileged to be the first Canadian to bring a world title home. Being a part of the community and inspiring people to live healthier in body and in mind is my ultimate goal. Hopefully, someone watches me pull the truck and says to themselves, ‘Maybe I could do that, too.’” — Mitchell Hooper
