CFB BORDEN — The Canadian Forces Ammunition Depot (CFAD) Angus will be hosting Exercise Cunning Pine, an annual explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) training exercise at Canadian Forces Base (CFB) Borden from Nov. 26 to Nov. 28, 2024.

This important training will include two key components:

  1. Live Demolitions at Castle EOD Range
Residents near CFB Borden may experience increased noise levels, including loud blasts, during the duration of the exercise due to the use of explosives. All activities are carefully controlled and conducted under strict safety protocols.
  2. Inert Item Training Across CFB Borden
Inert training items will be placed throughout the base, including Juno Beach Mess and Tank Road, and responses will involve EOD operators and representatives from the Ontario Provincial Police. All training areas will be clearly marked with signs indicating the items are inert and that training is in progress.

This exercise is being conducted under all applicable Canadian Armed Forces training regulations to protect both the public and Canadian Armed Forces members. It aims to enhance the skills of EOD operators and their partners, while fostering strong collaboration with civilian law enforcement agencies.
