Holiday magic has invaded the Sadlon Arena this weekend, and until Sunday visitors can get in some early Christmas shopping for the good people on their lists.
The 26th annual Barrie Christmas Arts and Crafts Show started Friday and runs until Sunday afternoon, with more than 140 Ontario artisans and crafters selling everything from pottery, stained glass, and teddy bears to Christmas crafts, jewelry, clothing, and woodwork.
Denise Waskul was decked out in an elf costume as she sold her handmade crafts from her Aurora-based Elfwear business, which included items for an Elf on the Shelf.
“I hand sew Elf on the Shelf clothes and I like to come in character because I love to interact with the children and families,” said Waskul. “It has been so fun, and this is the best show I have ever been to and I wish I knew about before. As a vendor, I can say it has been run fantastic.”
Karen Jones came from the Gravenhurst area to get into the Christmas spirit.
“I’m likely going to buy something since I drove all this way, but mainly I am hitting a bunch of Christmas-themed events to get the spirit of the season going early,” said Jones.
The event continues Sunday, running from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Tickets cost $10 for adults and $8 for seniors. Admission is free for kids 12 and younger (with an adult).
