Shooting puts public school, high school under hold and secure (update: lifted)

There is a heavy police presence in the area

Police are looking for two suspects in connection with a home invasion and shooting this morning on Gunn Street.

The suspects are described as male, black, In their mid twenties, dark clothing, wearing hoodies and are considered to be armed.

The victim is in stable condition in hospital with non-life threatening Injuries.

11:35 a.m. update:

Simcoe County District School Board says hold and secure has been lifted at both schools, and that all students and staff are safe.

Barrie Police say a 60-year-old male was taken to hospital this morning after a home invasion and shooting at a residence on Gunn Street.

There is a heavy police presence in the area as police investigate an incident at a home on Gunn Street at Berczy Street.

Simcoe County District School Board reports that Oakley Park Public school and Barrie North Collegiate have been placed into a 'hold and secure' state.

The board says the action was taken due to a police investigation.

Under a hold and secure, all doors are locked and no one is allowed to enter or exit the school.
