Skate Escape, Friday Harbour Resort’s beloved winter tradition, is back with an enhanced experience for all to enjoy.
Beginning Jan. 17, and continuing until mid-March, the signature event will feature skating in the Piazza under charming canopy lights, themed warming lounges, and more.
An outdoor adventure awaits
Lace up your skates and create memorable moments with family and friends. Receive complimentary access to the picturesque lakeside rink, with skate and equipment rentals available for adults and children. Open Thursdays through Sundays (weather permitting). No booking required.
New this year: expanded rink and skating lessons
This year, the skating rink has doubled in size, providing more room for skaters to glide, twirl, and embrace the beauty of the season together.
You can now sharpen your skills on the ice with professional skating lessons, available Thursdays. Choose from one-on-one private sessions for all ages, or semi-private lessons for kids aged six to 12. Skate rentals are included. To book a lesson or to learn more, click here.

Delectable dishes and sweet treats
After skating, refuel at Chalet Bites. There, you’ll find warming dishes like chef’s seasonal soup and smoked poutine, as well as decadent desserts like s’mores and churros. All are welcome to cozy up in the Après Skate Bar and Lounge, serving indulgent, winter-themed cocktails and hot chocolate.

Special offers and winter activities
During Skate Escape, guests can enjoy special offers from shops and restaurants along the Promenade, as well as additional recreation offerings. Those seeking an outdoor adventure can rent fat bikes, snowshoes, and cross-country skis from the Outdoor Adventure Centre, while those looking for indoor fun can perfect their swing with the TrackMan Golf Simulator at The Nest Clubhouse, with family packages and group bookings available.
