The Barrie North Vikings won the Simcoe County Athletics Association (SCAA) senior football championship this afternoon with another shutout victory.
The Vikings blanked the defending champion Bear Creek Kodiaks, 23-0, on Maple Ridge Secondary School's artificial turf field in the city's south end.
It marked Barrie North's fifth shutout win of the season in only nine games after not allowing any points in previous games against Nantyr Shores, Innisdale and twice versus Banting Memorial.
The Vikings also defeated Bear Creek, 22-7, in regular-season action on Oct. 10. The Kodiaks' only two losses this season came against Barrie North.
Barrie North, which remains undefeated on the season, will now play the winner of tonight's Catholic School Athletics of Simcoe County (CSASC) championship game for the Georgian Bay title next week.
The CSASC final, between the St. Joseph's Jaguars and the St. Joan of Arc Knights, begins at 6:30 p.m. at Georgian College's J.C. Massie Field.
Barrie North will face the winners of tonight's CSASC final for the Georgian Bay Secondary Schools Association (GBSSA) title on Thursday, Nov. 14 at Maple Ridge. Kick-off in that game is scheduled for 2 p.m.
BarrieToday will have more coverage of today's SCAA championship game later this afternoon.
