Body discovered Sunday near Bradford St.; coroner investigating

Barrie police are investigating the death of a man whose body was discovered Sunday in a field not far from the city’s downtown.

Officers received the call at 4:51 p.m. on Oct. 6, and responded to an empty lot between Bradford Street and Lakeshore Drive.

Emergency crews could be seen in the grassy field conducting their investigation.

“We are assisting the coroner with a death investigation. There are no details to share at this time,” police communications co-ordinator Peter Leon told BarrieToday.

Barrie Fire crews responded to a call in the area for a blaze at a homeless encampment on Sept. 22

Fire crews also responded to an encampment fire in the same vicinity on Feb. 7.
