Couple left 'shaken' after early-morning home invasion: OPP

Police say three armed men entered residence and restrained occupants at 4:40 a.m.; OPP asking for tips, video footage related to incident

Police are asking for the public’s help following a home invasion in Tay early this morning.

According to Southern Georgian Bay OPP, three men entered a home on Bayview Avenue in Midland Bay Woods brandishing a firearm. The home’s two occupants were restrained as the men searched the residence, leaving a short time later.

Police, who were called to the scene at about 4:40 a.m., say they found the couple uninjured, but shaken from what had just occurred.

While police haven’t yet released descriptions of the trio, the investigation remains ongoing with the assistance of officers from several OPP units, including: forensic identification services, canine, emergency response team and major crime.

Investigators are asking anyone who may have seen something suspicious or who lives in the area and has exterior home surveillance/door cameras to contact police at (888) 310-1122 or [email protected].

As well, investigators would like to speak with anyone who was driving in the area at the time and may have dashcam footage or seen something suspicious.
