RAMARA TWP. - The Orillia detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating the theft of a pet Ferruginous Hawk from a Ramara residence.

On Febr. 3, 2021, between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., a pet Hawk disappeared from outside a Ramara residence. The bird, a one-year-old Ferruginous Hawk named Arsenal, was securely tethered outside of the residence at the time.

The owner noticed the bird was missing and searched the area, locating shoe prints nearby. The tether is also missing so, in the unlikely event that the hawk escaped, the tether should still be attached to its leg.

If anyone has information regarding the missing hawk or knows of its whereabouts, please contact the Orillia OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) or submit your information online at www.crimestopperssdm.com.  Crime Stoppers does not subscribe to call display and you will remain anonymous. Being anonymous, you will not testify in court and your information may lead to a cash reward of up to $2,000.

The Orillia OPP is committed to serving our province, including the Townships of Oro-Medonte, Ramara and Severn and the City of Orillia, by protecting its citizens, upholding the law and preserving public safety.
