An illegal marijuana grow op in Ramara Township was raided Wednesday.

Seven people have been arrested after police busted an illegal marijuana grow operation in Ramara Township.

Police began an investigation in August, which “revealed that the rural property was being utilized for a significant outdoor grow operation,” Orillia OPP said in a news release.

Investigators learned the property was licensed for indoor cultivation only, but “the grow was outdoors and significantly over the licensed amount.”

A search warrant was executed Wednesday, when police seized 2,125 marijuana plants valued at about $2.125 million, 111 kilograms of dried cannabis valued at about $222,000.

Police have charged Yong Li, 68, of Ramara, Lifang Yang, 56, of Scarborough, Xuan Zhu, 56, of Thornhill, Yanling Su, 57, of Markham, Yanbing Li, 60, of no fixed address, Wu-qin Su, 59, of Scarborough, and Jiezhen Chen, 57, of Vaughan, with possession for the purpose of distribution and unlawful cultivation of marijuana.

All of the accused were released from custody and have future court dates.
