WASAGA BEACH — Police say a teenager and a child have been charged – and a third youngster too young to face charges has been given a warning – after a two-day graffiti tagging spree in Wasaga Beach targetting homes and vehicles.
Members of the Huronia West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police were inundated with reports made by Wasaga Beach residents this weekend, according to an OPP release.
"Many had awoken to find their homes and vehicles tagged with graffiti overnight on both Friday and Saturday. These mischievous acts took place on Shore Lane and Old Mosley Street," police said.
After conducting a canvas of the areas, obtaining statements, photographs, and video, three suspects were identified and charges were laid, police said.
A 15-year-old male from Wasaga Beach faces the following charges:
- Mischief under $5,000 (12 counts)
- Trespass at night (11 counts)
A 12-year-old female from Wasaga Beach is charged with:
- Mischief under $5,000 (7 counts)
- Trespass at night (6 counts)
A third female was identified and warned, "but due to her age could not be charged," police said.
The two who were charged were released and are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice at a later date.
None of the accused can be named under to the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
