LETTER: Photo radar could serve as a good income source for local police

I write with a suggestion regarding the Barrie Police Service annually asking for more money. It has been a few years since I have written both to your paper and the the Barrie Police officer in charge of traffic.

I write now after hearing about so much racing on Barrie streets, the highway and people being badly injured or, worse, killed. Everyone knows that it is 'open season' for speeding on several of Barrie's streets. And incidentally we rarely see a patrol car except where there is construction and a patrol car is behind the site with flashing lights for much of a day (or a few days).

If more photo radar was installed and locations not announced there would likely be considerable income for them. This is a non-threatening way to control speeding and save lives.

It is difficult to understand why more photo radar is not being deployed. "To serve and protect" is a good motto for both the men and women who serve and for the general population as well.

With trust and hope for safer streets and highways,

Myrna Clark
