Arrest made in north-end Barrie shooting

Barrie man, 28, in custody following incident this morning at Foundry Georgian

Police have confirmed a shooting took place Saturday in Barrie and they have arrested a suspect.

The shooting happened at the Foundry Georgian townhome complex on Georgian Drive at about 4 a.m.

In a Facebook post, Barrie city police stated a warrant was executed at about 5:30 p.m. at a Georgian Drive address, where a 28-year-old Barrie man was arrested. Police have not released the man’s name or what he has been charged with.

They said it was “an isolated incident, and there is no risk to public safety,” adding no further suspects are being sought.

The shooting resulted in a 21-year-old Barrie man being airlifted to a Toronto-area trauma centre in serious but non-life-threatening condition.

The investigation is continuing.
