A construction worker has died after an incident on the job in King City on Tuesday.
York Regional Police responded to the industrial accident at 6:34 p.m. on July 30 in the area of King Road and Peter Glass Road.
“When we arrived, there was a worker that had fallen into a ditch of water and was fully submerged,” said Const. Kevin Nebrija. “He was pulled out, however was pronounced deceased."
Police say the worker was stuck in a trench after rainfall from a storm passed through the area.
The cause of death is not clear, though police have ruled out any criminal intent.
“There is no criminal element, therefore the Ministry of Labour has taken over the investigation and we won’t be commenting further,” said Nebrija.
