Impaired driving charges laid after Highway 11 crash

The Huronia West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged an individual with impaired driving after responding to a two-vehicle collision in Springwater Township.

On October 22, 2024, at 12:08 p.m., the Huronia West OPP responded to a motor vehicle collision on Highway 11, just north of the Highway 400 split, in the Southbound lanes of Highway 11. A white pick-up truck crashed into an MTO crash truck that was stationary with workers working in the area. No injuries were reported at the time of the incident.

Officers were led to an impaired driving investigation, and the driver of the pickup truck registered over the legal limit.

As a result, a 35-year-old from Etobicoke, has been arrested and criminally charged with:

  • Operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Collingwood on November 19, 2024.
